On my own job, we had to break out and take DEI training. In the training, it breaks down basically to keep your personal thoughts of others to yourself and be more mindful about the things you say about the appearance and situations of others, or it could land you in along with sexual harassment. For people who had no gauge of other peoples’ personal boundaries, it gave warning that what one person considers niceties, like putting your hand on someone;s back, could be land you in the HR office for sexual harassment. It outlined things that could be found potentiallyRather than In a nutshell, DEI training taught people who didn’t get the memo on social ettiteutes growing up as a child, how to be decent fucking human being on the job.

The irony about all this is that the only time I’ve had DEI violations on a job has always been with white males on my job. For example, the time where my white male manager put his hand on my back and started rubbing it or the time where a different manager on the same job commented to me that I was a “really smart” person. I work in a STEM field, just like all the other white and Arab males on my team, but would you tell them they were smart? I was hired for the position because I was top tier and yet, he felt the audacity to call me smart because he felt that I was something lesser than.
