It appears GoDaddy deleted my website. About a month ago, WordPress kept spamming me that it couldn’t reach one of my sites, then another and then all of them. Going to any of them just returned time-out errors. So, I gave it a day to chill and still the same thing.
I called GoDaddy, explained the problem, and they could do nothing. In fact, they couldn’t even admit the reason why my sites mysteriously vaporized was because they were being attacked. One quick Google search was all I needed to find out GoDaddy was getting DDoS attacked. I knew that before I called but just wanted to see if the rep could tell me more information of what happened. They didn’t, and blamed it on “technical issues” but they didn’t have an ETA. Not even so much as an email stating that hey, sorry we lost your site; they left affected customers to find out about it on their own.
When the smoke finally cleared, I logged into my site and found not only this site, but 2 of my other sites wiped off the face of the internet. It did appear, however, they attempted to revert my site to a previous time, but the problem was it was too previous; it went back to when my site had nothing on it.
So, that’s how GoDaddy deleted my website. I tried to recover them from their backups, but not only were the backups deleted, but their databases were as well. So I lost everything and have to start my sites over from scratch.
But anyway. Lesson learned. Don’t host my website and backups on the same provider; have backups uploaded elsewhere.🦉
