Arrival at the New Facility
After, what seemed like forever, we arrived at the new homeless shelter in Jamaica, Queens. Strangely enough, it turned out to be a military facility. Out of privacy for the shelter, because it also housed battered women and women victims of domestic violence, I will leave the description of the place as that.
As we walked off the bus, they had us stand on the curb in the cold which was miserably unpleasant. A lady with a clipboard stood in front of us and called out names, making sure everyone who was supposed to be there, was there, and the shady unmarked bus pulled off. After some time, the lady with the clipboard led us into the facility where there was a conveyor belt and security guards
