SUFFOLK — Suffolk police Friday arrested a 58-year-old man who they say hired a prostitute for a 15-year-old boy one night in March when the two were at the man’s house.
Roy Lee Richardson and the teenager were at Richardson’s house on the night of March 12, when Richardson hired a prostitute for $13 and encouraged the boy to have sex with her, said Lt. D.J. George of the Suffolk Police Department.
The boy’s mother alerted police after Richardson told her what happened and asked her to repay him the $13, George said.
Before turning himself in to police Friday afternoon, Richardson said: “I don’t know because I was drinking and was high. I don’t know what happened.”
A grand jury indicted Richardson on Wednesday. He was charged with taking indecent liberties with a child in a custodial or supervisory relationship, solicitation to commit a felony, crimes against nature and conspiracy.
The indecent liberties charge relates to an adult in a supervisory relationship with a minor who proposes “that such child engage in sexual intercourse or sodomy,” among other things.
George said police do not know who the prostitute was. George would not comment on how Richardson and the boy knew each other, but she acknowledged the unusual nature of the case.
“It’s not anything that I’ve seen before.”
